Lourdes joined Foster LLP as an associate in 2020 with a background in family law. She enjoys advocating on behalf of her clients while helping them identify practical and achievable goals. Lourdes recognizes the value of resolving family law disputes efficiently and, where appropriate, outside of the courtroom. She has experience appearing before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal.
Lourdes has experience in a range of dispute resolution processes, including mediation and arbitration. She has represented clients in arbitration matters and has successfully obtained costs awards on their behalf. She is committed to finding efficient and effective resolutions tailored to the unique circumstances of each client.
Lourdes also represents children in family law matters through Legal Aid Alberta. She is a member of Legal Aid Alberta’s roster of counsel for children, having completed the required qualifications and training and participated in mentorship with experienced senior counsel practicing in this area.
While completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary, Lourdes worked as a Judicial Clerk at the Court of Queen’s Bench (as it then was), where she gained experience with civil and family law procedures. While completing her law degree, she was a semi-finalist in the University of Calgary Faculty of Law’s 2016 annual client negotiation competition.
Outside of her legal practice, Lourdes has volunteered with the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, assisting low-income individuals with the preparation and filing of their income tax returns.
When not at the office, Lourdes enjoys boxing, spending time with her friends and family, and spending time with her dog, Mia.
Lourdes is currently a Co-Chair of the South Section of the Canadian Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section.
Lourdes is fluent in Spanish and is able to provide legal services in Spanish.
